I would like your opinion on Whirlpool refrigerator common problems.
They have problems with water freezing at the bottom of the freezer, in the bottom freezer designs. The repair people have instructions from the factory saying cut a larger opening and put in a bigger tube.
That means it is a known design problem. Fortunately, I do not have a bottom freezer model.
The Whirlpool fridges in general have problems with water accumulation and frost build up in the bottom of the freezer.
Any fridge could have that problem, especially if there is a refrigerant leak.
Whirlpool had a recall for fridges that caught fire, though that was under the Maytag name.
How does a fridge catch fire?
The relay that turns on the compressor often overheated and caught fire, though that was back before 2010. Any fridge could catch fire due to an electrical short.
I’m looking at much newer fridges.
Their icemakers have problems, regularly failing to make cubed or crushed ice.
Putting an ice maker in any fridge creates problems, reducing its reliability. That’s according to Consumer Reports.
You get problems with the ice maker’s basic mechanical components, failing to make and roll off the ice maker, though the water dispenser itself has fewer problems.
Fewer is relative.
Whirlpool refrigerators have problems with the compressor failing, refrigerant leaks and condenser failures.
That pretty much means the fridge fails to refrigerate, defeating its entire purpose.
The compressors need to be replaced after a couple of years, rarely lasting three years, and the condenser sometimes fails in the first year or two.
That costs about as around a third of the unit.
The control boards cost that much too. Fortunately, Whirlpool does not have nearly as many problems with that as they do with the drain tube and ice maker valve.
That can cost as much as an expensive component to fix after it has soaked my floor.
Their control panels do have their problems, particularly if the control board is near an ice maker in the door.
The extra freezer space is not worth the risk of paying the price of the fridge to replace the control panel every few years.
Oh, you’ll hate the mold in the door and rust in the door frame too.
How does Whirlpool customer service handle this?
They’ll offer you an extended warranty first and foremost on any call, before taking their time to send a repair person to your place.
Unfortunately, that’s a common problem with appliance manufacturers.
It is a common problem, because Whirlpool owns and runs Maytag, Amana and several other brands now.

The customer service staff's answer is very meticulous, the most important is that the product quality is very good, and packaged carefully, shipped quickly!
